Everything you need to know about getting your radio station app up and running. Can’t find what you’re looking for? Get in touch.

Getting Started

Kandr Radio is a platform that gives radio stations their own branded iOS app and a web-based admin console to manage it. We handle all the development, App Store submission, and technical maintenance so you can focus on your content and listeners. Your app comes loaded with 22+ features including live streaming, push notifications, donations, polls, and a full CMS.

It’s a three-step process:

  1. Sign up — Tell us about your station: name, stream URL, branding colors, and logo.
  2. We build your app — We configure your branded iOS app, set up your admin console, prepare App Store assets, and submit for Apple’s review.
  3. Go live — Once approved, your app is live on the App Store. You log into your admin console and start managing your schedule, content, and notifications.

Most stations can go live in as little as 3 days. That includes initial setup, branding configuration, App Store asset preparation, and Apple’s review process. Timelines can vary depending on how quickly you provide branding assets and Apple’s current review queue.

Not at all. The admin console runs in any web browser and is designed to be intuitive for non-technical users. We handle all app development, updates, and App Store submissions on your behalf. If you can use email, you can manage your station app.

Streaming & Compatibility

The app supports ICY/Shoutcast and Icecast streams out of the box, including MP3 and AAC/HE-AAC audio formats. Stream metadata — song title, artist name, and album artwork — is parsed automatically in real time, so listeners always see what’s playing.

Common providers like Live365, StreamGuys, Triton Digital, and self-hosted Icecast/Shoutcast servers work seamlessly.

Get in touch with us. We actively work with stations to integrate additional stream providers and formats. If your setup isn’t supported today, we’ll evaluate compatibility and work with you to make it happen. Our goal is to support every station, regardless of how they stream.

Yes, both are built in. With CarPlay, your station appears as a dedicated audio app on the car’s display with live metadata (song, artist, artwork) on the Now Playing screen. AirPlay lets listeners send the stream to any compatible speaker, Apple TV, or HomePod with a single tap.

Absolutely. The live stream works over both Wi-Fi and cellular data. If the connection drops — say, driving through a tunnel — the app reconnects automatically when the network is available again. Background audio continues playing even when the phone is locked.

Features & Customization

Absolutely. Your station’s colors, logo, tagline, navigation tabs, and menu items are all configurable from the admin console. Changes sync to the app in real time — no app update or App Store resubmission required. Your app looks and feels like it’s 100% yours.

No. All content — your schedule, banners, sponsors, app pages, branding, and navigation — syncs to the app in real time through the admin console. You never need to go through the App Store review process to update what your listeners see.

Yes. The app supports native Apple Pay for one-tap giving, credit and debit cards via Stripe Checkout, and monthly or yearly recurring donations. You can configure your own suggested donation amounts from the admin console, and all contributions are tracked in a dedicated dashboard.

Yes. The CMS page builder lets you create unlimited pages using a block editor with headers, rich text, images, call-to-action buttons, dividers, contact forms, and polls. Pages publish instantly with no app update needed — just build, preview, and publish from the admin console.

Support & Ownership

The app is published and managed under our developer account, but your station owns the experience — your branding, your content, your listeners. While your subscription is active, you have full control over everything your audience sees through the admin console.

If you choose to cancel, all station data is cleared in accordance with our data retention policy. We’re transparent about how it works so there are no surprises — reach out if you have questions about the details.
